Sculptra San Francisco
As we get older, volume loss and skin sagging contribute to signs of aging on the face. Sculptra is an injectable treatment that can combat these signs, smoothing lines and wrinkles and adding volume to cultivate a more youthful appearance.
For those who’d like to learn more about this procedure, Dr. David Sieber’s experienced team at Sieber Plastic Surgery performs Sculptra injections for patients who qualify.

What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that stimulates collagen production for smoother skin, increased volume, and fewer fine lines and wrinkles.
While other dermal fillers such as those that use hyaluronic acid (HA) physically add volume for immediate results, Sculptra injections do not actually introduce instant volume. Rather, Sculptra brings on gradual changes that are longer lasting.
The injectable itself is made up of Poly-L Lactic Acid (PLLA) — the same substance that dissolvable stitches are made of. As a collagen stimulator, Poly-L Lactic Acid stimulates natural collagen formation in the body, thus creating more volume.
Sculptra Pros and Cons
Naturally, the greatest benefit of Sculptra is that it can improve patient appearance by reducing signs of aging. Sculptra treatments can diminish facial wrinkles, and of course, restore lost collagen. Sculptra is also long-lasting. Positive effects are usually visible for at least two years.
One drawback to Sculptra is that the injections must typically be performed in at least two separate sessions to see full results. Furthermore, you will not achieve instant results, and if you are unhappy with the outcome for any reason, Sculptra cannot be instantly dissolved as other fillers can be.
Sculptra Side Effects
After Sculptra injections, patients may experience some light bruising and skin discoloration, mild swelling, and soreness. Tingling and site hardening may also occur. Tenderness, redness, and some mild bleeding are normal.
The team member performing your injections will administer a topical numbing cream to aid with discomfort during the procedure. After treatment, using a cold compress and/or taking an over-the-counter pain reliever can help reduce discomfort.
We also recommend taking it easy for a while. Do not partake in any strenuous activities or lift anything heavy for at least 24 hours.
Sculptra Butt Lift
Many are unaware that the Sculptra aesthetic is not isolated to improving the face. In fact, Sculptra for buttocks enhancement is quite popular as well.
Sometimes called a Sculptra BBL, Sculptra butt injections are great at promoting collagen growth on the buttocks, which increases volume and can correct issues such as hip dips or poor projection. If you would like to add a modest amount of volume to your buttocks or change the shape or projection, Sculptra may be the answer.
Sculptra Results
You should start seeing the beginning of your Sculptra results after 2 weeks to 4 weeks post-procedure. As the body’s natural collagen production goes up, patients will notice improvement in deep facial wrinkles, increased tightness, and a natural increase in volume.
Around this time is usually when we advise coming back for a second Sculptra treatment. Depending on your needs and goals, some patients may require one more additional Sculptra cosmetic treatments as well. Results should continue to become visible in the weeks following your subsequent treatments.
Sculptra Cost
To create an accurate Sculptra price estimate, we must first meet with you in person to discuss your desired results and where, specifically, you’d like to see improvement. Sculptra is not a one-size-fits-all procedure. Furthermore, many patients desire or would benefit from additional procedures performed alongside Sculptra injections.
At your consultation appointment, we’ll talk to you about your desired outcome, medical history, and what exactly you want to improve. From there, we’ll be able to tell you about your options and put a procedure plan into place. Finally, we can work out the estimated cost for services.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Sieber offers Sculptra injections through his San Francisco practice. Experienced team members Sally, Armeen, and Lexi perform the injections. How Much Is Sculptra?
As with any type of injectable or cosmetic procedure, we cannot give a final Sculptra price over the phone or online. Instead, we’ll need to see you in-person to determine exactly what procedure(s) are needed to achieve your goals and the scope.
Radiesse vs Sculptra: Which Is Better?
This depends on what your goals are. Both injectables aim to increase collagen production. However, Radiesse also provides immediate volume increase whereas Sculptra is a collagen stimulator only. So, it will take time to see your Sculptra results, though they will be longer lasting.
How Long Does Sculptra Last?
Most Sculptra injections will take two to four weeks to see results. After this, you may require additional injections. Ultimately, you can expect your results to last for approximately two years. Many patients will decide to get “touch-ups” of Sculptra at least once every year or so after that.
Can I Get Sculptra Under Eyes?
No, we don’t recommend Sculptra for the under eyes. Instead, placing Sculptra in the midface can help support the under eye anatomy and can therefore indirectly benefit this area of the face.
How Does Sculptra Hip Dips Enhancement Work?
Sculptra can be used near the area where many people have a slight indentation just above the thighs on the upper hips. These are colloquially called “hip dips”. Collagen production in this location can help to fill out the area, providing a smoother hourglass shape as the waist transitions to the hips.
Will Sculptra For Ozempic Face Work?
If you lost weight with Ozempic and you were left with loose sagging skin, you can achieve optimal results from your weight loss by combining your new eating habits with Sculptra for “Ozempic face”. Sculptra can help fill in lost volume, improving a gaunt appearance.
Sculptra vs Filler: Which Is Better?
This really depends on your goals. Sculptra is typically recommended to improve skin texture, marionette lines (smile lines), nasolabial folds, chin wrinkles, and loss of facial volume at various locations depending on your anatomy and the source problem.
