What is High-Definition Liposuction?
High definition (hi-def) liposuction is an advanced liposculpting procedure that strategically sculpts the body by removing fat in problem areas while at the same time exposing and highlighting important muscle groups in the body to create natural contours. A youthful body is 3 dimensional, composed of light and shadows. If traditional liposuction is like painting with a broad brush, Vaser high-definition liposuction is more akin to painting with a fine brush.
Patient Testimonials
First & foremost I want to say Dr. Sieber is Awesome! He is a young, fresh & friendly Surgeon with a great bedside manner & a great team behind him. This review is long overdue but I wanted to make sure I was far enough along in my recovery to give an honest review. So this is how my journey begins… 11 months ago I started searching for surgeons in the Bay Area that specialize in Vaser Lipo. Today I am 9 months post op and for the first time in a long time I feel comfortable in my own skin, I wore a bikini for the first time in ages and I am so happy with my results. I highly recommend Dr. Sieber, he makes dreams come true!

Vaser High-Definition Laser Technique
Vaser assisted liposuction allows for creation of a realistic, 3-dimensional shape to the treated areas. This is accomplished by treating superficial and deep layers of fat together with smooth transitions between the two for a more natural and muscular appearance.
VAL allows precise pockets of fat to be removed very closely to the skin and directly over the muscles. Removal of these small deposits exposes natural muscular contours which were not visible before. Because much of this fat is located alongside various muscle groups, its removal helps to create more muscular definition.
Dr. David Sieber a San Francisco plastic surgeon spent time with the pioneer of high definition liposuction, Dr. Alfredo Hoyos, in Colombia to learn his techniques for delivering incredible results.
Which Areas of the Body Can Be Treated?
As a part of high definition procedures, patients most commonly have liposuction of the arms, chest, abdomen, back, flanks, and thighs. The Vaser sculpting tools can remove fat in certain places to sculpt underlying muscles. Six-pack, obliques, lats, pecs, biceps, triceps, and deltoids are all muscles that can be highlighted.
As much as liposculpting is about removing fat, it’s also about what you leave behind to create precise highlights and shadows on the skin. That’s why fat transfer is utilized in conjunction with liposuction. Men commonly have fat transferred to their shoulders, chest, and buttocks to create a more muscular appearance.
Women have fat transferred to their buttocks and sometimes breasts to augment the size and reshape to the area.
In conjunction with hi-def liposuction, women may also choose to undergo a breast augmentation, breast lift, and/or a tummy tuck at the same time.
Vaser Lipo Before and After
Recovery from Hi-Def Liposuction
The recovery process is different for everyone. The number of areas of the body that were treated is also a factor that determines total recovery time and how much time away from work and usual activities you may need. You should expect to take at least one week off from work.
Immediately after surgery, you will be placed into a compression garment.
You will have drains placed during surgery to help remove unwanted fluid from beneath the skin.
You can expect some swelling, bruising and discomfort for the first few days following surgery.
Dr. Sieber highly recommends working with a lymphatic massage therapist to help ensure the best possible outcome after vaser liposuction surgery.
You will need to refrain from any vigorous activity for the first 2 weeks.
What Is the Cost of Vaser Liposuction?
Patients often want to know: “Is Vaser Lipo expensive?”
The answer is yes and no. Yes, because plastic surgery procedures in general can be pricey. Health insurance does not cover most of them, which means nearly all patients are paying out of pocket. Additionally, because this procedure uses more advanced technology than traditional liposuction, the cost of Vaser liposuction is generally higher than that of traditional lipo.
Still, the Vaser Liposuction cost difference when compared to traditional lipo is usually small. Vaser lipo typically costs only slightly more than traditional liposuction.
In addition, when compared to some other procedures such as Brazilian butt lifts or mommy makeovers, Vaser Liposuction is not as expensive.

Who is a good candidate for Vaser Hi-Def Liposuction?
Vaser Hi-Def Lipo is best suited for those who are looking to contour and sculpt the body, instead of overall fat reduction. Liposuction is not meant for weight loss or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle.
Are the high definition liposuction results permanent?
Patients will keep the effects of hi-def as long as they maintain a healthy, stable weight. Any weight loss, weight gain, pregnancy, or childbirth after the procedure will alter the results.
What is the difference between standard liposuction and Hi-def lipo?
Vaser hi-def liposuction takes standard liposuction to the next level of results. Hi-def lipo is commonly referred to as liposculpture because as fat is removed in certain areas, a little is left in others.
This strategic removal of fat allows Dr. Sieber to expose the underlying muscles like the abs, pecs, back, and shoulders, while slimming the waist and torso. It can make an already fit person appear to have a more sculpted and athletic appearance.
What kind of results can one expect from having Vaser High Definition Liposuction?
After hi-def liposuction, a thin layer of fat will be left in areas that naturally have muscles underneath such as the shoulders, chest, arms, and abs. This will be juxtaposed to areas where fat is completely removed, creating highlights and shadows to enhance your natural anatomy. This means more defined arms, shoulders, abdomen, back, legs, and calves.
How long will I have to wear compression after surgery?
Dr. Sieber recommends wearing a compression garment 24 hours a day (ok to remove it to shower) for the first 4 weeks after surgery, then continue the compression garment for an additional 8 weeks wearing it for 12 hours a day (either during the day or while sleeping).
Are lymphatic massages really necessary?
The short answer is yes! lymphatic massages will help to remove any excess fluid from the tissue, reducing the time you will experience swelling and expediting healing. Liposuction can disturb the lymphatic system, causing the pooling of lymphatic fluids. Massage helps to return this fluid back into the circulation where it belongs.
